Established in 2001, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (MGMC&RI) is a constituent unit of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Deemed-to-be University. Located in the serene and culturally rich Puducherry, the institute has grown into a center of excellence for medical education, research, and healthcare delivery.

MBBS

A 5.5-year program (including internship) recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Annual intake of 150 students. Curriculum emphasizes early clinical exposure and community-based learning.

Center for Infectious Disease Research: Focus on TB, HIV, antimicrobial resistance.
Center for Genomics and Molecular Medicine: Cancer genomics, genetic disorders.
Center for Public Health and Policy: Epidemiological studies, health systems research.
Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Unit: Translational research in regenerative therapies.

3 Tesla MRI, 128-slice CT scan, Digital X-ray, PET-CT, Color Doppler, fully automated laboratories, and molecular diagnostics.

100-bed ICU complex (Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, Neurological, Pediatric, Neonatal) with advanced ventilators and monitoring.

Surgical Suites

20 modular operation theatres with laminar flow, dedicated for neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, transplant, minimally invasive, and robotic-assisted surgery.

Community Outreach

Regular health camps, screening programs, mobile medical units, and telemedicine services for rural and underserved populations in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.

Admissions Process

Admissions to MBBS and MD/MS programs are based on national-level entrance examinations (NEET-UG and NEET-PG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Admissions to PhD programs are through university-level entrance tests and interviews.
